Languages. There's just something about them. The thrill of actually communicating in another language, especially one with no linguistic relation with your native tongue, it's amazing.
The fact that I enjoy grammar more than anyone I know is probably a huge contributing factor to why I love languages so much. It's fascinating to me that since until a few hundred years ago, most civilizations lived in complete isolation from one other, with the exception of some that were close, and thus, so many different languages have come up with entirely different and interesting ways of expressing the exact same thing. And as another result of that same situation, in many languages, there are some
words that just have no simple equivalent in any other language. I find that amazing. And nowadays, because languages influence each other so much, it creates an even more diverse system of communication.
Anyway, enough of my nerdiness.
